How often do you have to eat with portion control dieting?

Posted by on July 29, 2010

I’m doing portion control dieting but i don’t know how often do you have to eat between each meal.

Can you eat whenever you want?

Thank you.

Sadly, the science does not seem to exist to answer this question. Digestion was studied by Pavlov of all people.

The experience of one Healthy group recommend just two or three meals a day with no snacking. If you eat a diet that is rich in fiber and plant protein (beans & whole grains) a big breakfast and a big lunch should carry you through to a small dinner. This actually works. Try it.

Some dietitians recommend six per day so that the blood sugar level is moderated, however, that’s assuming a SAD diet (Standard American Diet). I believe that this and the high protein animal products diets are detrimental based upon my personal experience. Your body must go through cycles of an empty stomach to be healthy.

Where science is incomplete, I sometimes trust the wisdom of generations of experience.

What you eat is as important as when you eat. Don’t eat within a few hours of going to sleep at night.

well what i have heard is the best thing to do is eat every 2-3 hours, small things. Like lets say you awke up at 8 am you can eat an egg sandwhich. Then around 10 you eat like grapes or an apple. Then at 12/1 you eat a sandwhich. Then at 3/4 you eat carrots. 5/6 you eat dinner…something small like maybe 2 ounces of pasta with sauce.

I wouldn’t say you could eat whatever you want…but try to eat things that are healthy…like not candy and stuff like that. Watch your carb intake as well. Dont eat bad carbs like potatoes, white pasta, and white bread. Eat stuff like sweet potatoes, wheat pasta, and wheat bread.

Me for one I hate wheat pasta so I usually just eat 2 ounces of white but all my bread is wheat. I only eat white pasta maybe once or twice a week more as a treat then anything else.

Drink plenty of water…it really helps if you like tea and coffee drink that too because the caffine boosts your metabolism.

also take your vitamins, people who take them have been proven to lose more weight…especially taking fish oil pills and fiber pills.

You should eat at least 6 meals a day. So depending on how long you are awake, that’s how long between each meal. And you should not just eat anything, you should balance your diet with fruits, veggies, grains, and proteins.
