I know what internet marketing is, but what is the best way to get started?

What exactly did these people do that made them a lot of money?

I already have a BS in Computer Science and am quite familiar with HTML, XML, and CSS.

I found out that these guys that "get rich" by figuring out how to get traffic to whatever site you have that you are either selling something of your own or and affiliate product. They figure out what simply works. There is NOT one "secret method", which every guru is trying to sell you for $997..

I came across someone who had success with their online business and retired at 40.. He started sharing what he and every other successful online business person does.. and I can genuinely tell you it helped me to see how I can seriously be successful myself online. There is VALUE in his info not HYPE..

I think the best way is to interact with your friends/fans and get involved with their conversations. Add more content than just about your products. Comment on their pictures and posts and develop a ‘relationship’ (more geared towards your fans).

Another option you can take is to take a social media training course where you’ll not only learn about Facebook but you’ll also learn about other social media sites. I have a good idea of what it’s capable of but I want to hear from newbies and recent converts of their thoughts.

The main issues that I see people encountering is the shear volume of information and all of the ‘experts’. Your best bet is to find one or two well known gurus to follow and just pay attention to them. You can subscribe to many others but just don’t spend much time reading their ‘offers’ just yet.

Learn the basics of SEO and how to optimize your page. Little by little it’ll all come together. Learn keyword research and how to pick the right market. Learn how to analyze your website data to see where to make changes.

Get a site up and running and PRACTICE! Figure out how you plan on marketing (article, social media, etc) and stick to one method. Don’t try too many methods at once because you’ll only confuse yourself. If you’re serious about getting into Internet Marketing you may want to take some courses to get a jump start.

This is a great question and one that’s often asked. While there are TONS of resources online stick with reputable programs. Sure you can learn stuff from people who say they’re experts but they may teach methods that are considered ‘blackhat’ (tactics that the search engines may penalize you for).

I know about eBooks, affiliate marketing and the like. I even have a plan that I want to earn from the Internet full time in two years. It’s just that I just seem to have difficulty "putting pen to paper" Should I pay for mentoring because I seem too overwhelmed by it all?

Mentoring is a good way to help you because it demands accountability on your part, however it can be costly.

You already have a two year plan, but it has to be specific, like how much will you be earning in two years. The most important question is Why do you want to earn that much, what is the reason. The more compelling the reason, the more likely it is that you are going to make it happen because from a "Want" it becomes a "Must".
Once it becomes a must, you have to focus your mind on achieving it.

The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.“

A Chinese saying; A journey of a thousand miles, starts with the first step.

You already have a two year plan, that is very good, many people want to get rich but don’t have plan or target. You are already several steps ahead.

Break down the 2 year plan into quarterly plans or milestones, the first quarter into monthly milestones, turn the first month into weekly actions, and then the coming week into daily actions.

Every day just do whatever your daily action plan is don’t worry about tomorrow, just get today’s action plan done. Make this a routine task. Somedays (not to many please) you might not do it, don’t worry just do it the next day (take two days off every week, rest your mind do something else)

Review every month (if possible weekly), and compare your plan to your results. This will keep you on track. Once this becomes a routine you will be well on your way.

I would say: Starting Up!

Everything else come later. If you are (or your product Or Service) introducing your market. You will never know how will it gain its success. You are still unaware about its potentiality. So, you have a long list of work to do homework for getting credibility in to that particular market.

Of course there are couple of effective ways to do that. But although, you have do testing and praise the market. Which is bit tedious process. You must have high patience to survive in this duration.
