How do you get certified as a health teacher?

My mom is a teacher, and I think she would be a good health teacher since she already teaches Food and Nutrition, and several other classes. The school needs a Health teacher and she already knows a lot about health, but what would it take to become certified as a health teacher for a teacher?
We live in Utah, any info will help.

it depends on your state’s department of education…they should have a website where you can check it out. in Missouri she would just have to take the Praxis for health education to be certified.

I am a sophomore in college and have not had health or dental insurance since I was a little girl. I can’t be on my mom’s insurance cause the price will sky rocket. I have a part time job so I don’t get Health benefits at work. Is there some type of health insurance that has good coverage but also doesn’t cost too much since I don’t make too much?

In some states, there is no "health insurance that … doesn’t cost too much", period. In some states, all health insurance, for everyone, costs "too much".

In other states, there is health insurance for someone your age that does not cost too much. However, it is not specifically for college students; it is for anyone your age who lives there and meets the medical criteria, whether or not they are a college student.

Finally, some, but not all, colleges offer their own insurance, which may or may not "cost too much", depending on what that particular college offers.

There is good health insurance for college students who attend colleges with good health insurance or live in states with good health insurance. There is not good health insurance for college students who attend colleges without good health insurance and live in states without good health insurance.

Try asking this again with the name of the state where you live, the name of the college, and your age.

Cranberry is good for detoxing. Be careful with the pomegranate it has estrogen increasing properties, it is sometimes sold as a estrogen "replacement".

I’ve always liked lots of sugar in my coffee, in my tea. Would this cause certain health problems when I get older, if so, what would they be?

Be sure you make a distinction between sugar from fructose ("bad") and glucose ("good"). Humans are anatomically and physiologically designed to seek and consume sugar. The tip of our tongue tastes with pleasure only one calorie-containing substance, sugar (carbohydrate). Some tissues of our body, such as red blood cells and kidney cells (glomeruli cells) will only burn carbohydrates.

Under experimental laboratory conditions, however, where people are overfed large amounts of simple sugars, the human body will resort to converting a small amount of sugar into a small amount of fat (triglycerides) in the liver.

Yet other studies comparing sugar intake with risk of developing type-2 diabetes show people on high sugar diets are less likely to get diabetes. There is, however, a strong relationship between red meat consumption and diabetes… The lowest rates of diabetes in the world are found among populations that consume the most carbohydrates. Contrary to popular belief, refined sugars actually make the body’s insulin work more efficiently though large quantities do cause a spike in insulin production. Sugar is rarely eaten alone, but rather in combinations with fat as single foods, like cake, ice cream, pies and candy bars, or a combination of foods, like the standard American diet which is about half fat and half sugar. The sugar spikes insulin production, pushing the readily available fat from the spoonful of dessert right into the belly fat.

There can be some real drawbacks and Health hazards caused by consuming simple sugars, especially for those in poor health. It’s generally best to eat only complex and unprocessed sugars. As the carbohydrate becomes more purified through refining, weight control becomes less efficient. Also, the more sugar is consumed, and the more often it is consumed between meals, the more likely the teeth will decay. Pure sugars have been stripped of all their nutrients, except for the simple carbohydrate—thus they are called “empty calories.” To metabolize the sugar, nutrients stored in the body or from other foods must be scavenged—in this sense “sugar robs your body of vitamins and minerals.

She works full time but her employer charges an outrageous amount of money for health insurance. I know there are many many young people who don’t have health insurance, mostly because of the cost of high insurance premiums. But my daughter really needs it cause she has some Health issues that will stay with her for a lifetime.

I will be divorced in 2 months and will have to find my own Health insurance. I have been with Anthem for 14 years and have no health problems and no medications except 1 blood pressure pill a day. I am waiting for a quote from Anthem for a single policy but I am afraid it will not be affordable. Thanks for all the help I can get!
