I’m wanting a new book or two on gardening, and one that has a bit of focus on houseplants and overwintering plants indoors. Any links to good sites are also appreciated. I’m looking for a book, a hard copy, something that I can read in bed or when the internet’s out.

How did environmental factors affect social and cultural change in the various civilizations of the Indian?

How did environmental factors affect social and cultural change in the various civilizations of the Indian Ocean basin?..You would really be helping me out.

I imagine isolation from China (Himalayans) had a part to play. And the monsoon season certainly effects their lives. I believe some of the rivers are holy as well as some mountains. Perhaps fertile soil in some parts do to conditions. Rivers can also be used for transportation, and that has effects on a civilization.

What fashion show had models covered in blood?

I know a few years back there was a fashion show (by I want to say YSL or Valentino) that featured models covered in blood. I know there is one that had a single model covered in blood acting as if she had been stabbed, but that is not it. I was just hoping someone could find out and send me a link about it. I know there is one like this, but I haven’t found it yet.

not sure about few years ago, but Lucrezia did an excellent show in Milan this year! She had everyone including us convinced she had been stabbed backstage! Gross, by also slightly funny … Read the rest

What food service occupations are there where jewelry of any kind is considered a safety issue?

I was just reading that in a different section. And am curious because I have worked in several kitchens in the past where all the engaged/married women wore wedding rings. And I have never heard of them being a safety risk. Even at the food handler’s safety classes that the health dept has, they don’t mention that being a risk of any kind, which they would be required to do so if it was.

The only time I have ever heard of anything related being a safety issue where food is concerned is when I worked at a summer camp one year. There was one boy who felt prejudiced because … Read the rest

Can I travel to spain with a swiss resident permit C?

I am planning of going to Spain, and would like to know if I could travel to spain with my swiss resident permit and my other passport (as I can travel to france with my swiss resident permit)? And the guys traveling with me has a shengen visa, is that okay?

Thanks!

Yes, the Swiss type C residence permit waives the visa requirement to the other Schengen countries; same applies to a visa issued by Switzerland if it is a type C visa and it states valid for "Schengen States" in the first column.

What is the best science course to take for non-majors in your mind?

I typically am really bored of science, I think it totally useless for my life. For instance I don’t care what the density of mercury is, or how many moons Jupiter has, none of those things affect my daily life. By course, I mean like Chemistry, Biology or Microbiology, Physics, Earth Science, etc. I have almost graduated from my sophomore year of college I just need a science class.

well first off, college science courses aren’t about memorizing dumb facts like the # of moons jupiter has..thats more hs stuff.. so dont worry about that..
I’d say definitely Bio. it has the most ‘useful’ information if youre not going into … Read the rest

I am in the process of finishing my basement and i have decided to make an area for a home theatre system everything, the whole deal speakers, tvs, xbox, playstation 3, i was wondering what colour should i paint the room, what would look good?

Do the old consume too much health care? How should health care resources be distributed across the population?

What are each generations obligations to those before and those after them? Do the old consume too much health care? What is too much? How should health care resources be distributed across the population? Should health care be explicitly rationed on the basis of age?

Interesting question. How many young people, say 30 and younger have paid into a health insurance plan since they were first employed? How many of these have had extreme health issues that otherwise would have wiped them out? Truth is, and the insurance companies know, is that the youth have *always* subsidized the elderly because statistically, one is more likely to need to *use* health insurance … Read the rest

What percent of girls who start dieting at 13 end up with eating disorders?

I know a girl who has been dieting since she was 13 and still is (she’s probably around 15 now). What are the chances of her getting an eating disorder? I’ve heard that like 86% of girls who diet at that age end up with one, is that true? What statistics do you have/know? I really would like to warn her parents, especially since they see nothing wrong with her behavior. I’m not sure if she’s throwing up in a bathroom or anything like that, but she definately is watching what she is eating, eating foods marked "low carb", keeping track of how many pounds she has lost, and exercises … Read the rest
